I haven't posted about politics, but it affects us all. Our daily lives are controlled by gambling with our jobs, our pay, our healthcare, our purchases. A major problem in my book is that items from foreign countries are sold here in our country at a lower price and we buy them because that's all we can afford.
I hate to suggest it but in my opinion the exporting manufacturer should have to pay an import tax to make the value of importing would make the item the same price on the shelf as the U.S. made item. I feel that any store that is going to put foreign products on their shelves, should also have the American made version on the same shelf at the same price. I know it sounds silly, but wouldn't you buy something that was the same price and made at home to keep someone working? Try looking when you shop for an American item over one from a foreign country.
I guess what brought up my upset is the discussion on the oil pipeline that they are trying to build from Canada into the U.S. I don't see how the Obama administration can say they want to create jobs, yet back out on this pipeline. For those of you who want to know more search for "Keystone" Pipeline. This pipeline provides us Canadian oil, which is probably going to be cheaper than importing oil from across the ocean. The supply could come in still via ship from ocean, but another source would be via the pipeline. I feel this would make us less impacted by the problems in the middle east and more likely to stabalize our fuel prices. They have discussed about 20,000 jobs created with this pipeline. What about all the jobs created by stable fuel prices? What about the jobs that could be added in transportation with fuel prices more affordable? I know that railroads would lose out since they are now pushing they are more efficient at moving a truck load than a semi truck. I see the push for cleaner fuels, but if we cannot afford hybrid vehicles how can we purchase them?
I think all politicians probably have the people's interest in mind when they get into office, then they realize that lobbyists make things sound good, and treat them really nice. I just wish that we could change the current system we have. Maybe we should all have to take a turn being politician for a week, it would be mandatory if you are sane and can get to the state capital then you have the ability to serve your area. Your employer would have to hold your job, and they would have no say in whether or not you could go. I think instead of state senators and representatives, we should have county representatives and senators. Just like jury duty you would get randomly selected that week to handle the business that comes up and record your opinions on the discussions. Each County would get 1 state senator and 1 state representative for the state government. This would make it a more even playing field. Wow does it sound that weird? I think it could work, but I am out in left field I am sure.
I know it's all dreams but it could work nicely and keep politics "fair".
I have often thought about running for an office, but I am just nobody, I have no bank account to push a campaign. I am not saying all politicians are wrong, many get stereotyped because of the whole.
I guess that is about my rant for now. Everyone have a great day and tell your friends about this blog so we can get the views/ratings up. Thanks!
